The Aries archetype

Aries opens the zodiac: the first degree of the tropical year, the vernal equinox, the moment life asserts itself against the dormancy of winter. As cardinal fire it is pure initiating force — the spark that begins a cycle rather than the endurance that sustains it. The Aries impulse is toward action, and it discovers who it is by doing, competing and meeting resistance head-on.
