The Moon archetype
If the Sun is the self one is becoming, the Moon is the self one already is at the level of feeling and instinct. It governs the emotional body, the unconscious reflexes, memory, and the deep need for safety and belonging. The Moon is reactive and rhythmic — it waxes and wanes, and so do the moods and needs it rules.
Its archetype is the mother and the home: the principle that nurtures, protects and remembers.
