The Ear of Wheat held by the Virgin — the brightest star in Virgo and one of the most fortunate stars in the whole sky. Spica marks the harvest and the gift of the grain. It sits in early Libra in the tropical zodiac.

Spica is a star of brilliance, talent, and protected good fortune — the "gift." Its nature is Venus-Mars (some add Mercury): luminous, gifted, fertile. Conjunctions to natal points bless that point with unusual talent, success, and an almost charmed protection — gifts that come freely and bear fruit, often in the arts, sciences, or any field requiring a touch of genius.

The traditional reading is among the most benevolent of any fixed star: Spica brings honor, riches, and a sense of being favored — sometimes a fortunate "something for nothing." Its gentle caution is gratitude — that the gift be recognized as a gift and used well, not taken for granted.

Manifests as: marked talent and brilliance, success and renown, protection and good fortune, fertility of mind and work, the sense of being gifted.

Keywords: brilliance, talent, the gift, protected fortune, the harvest, success that bears fruit.
