The Scorching One — the brightest star in the night sky, in Canis Major, the Greater Dog. To the Egyptians, Sirius (Sothis) heralded the annual flooding of the Nile and the new year; its heliacal rising was the most sacred event of the calendar. It sits in early Cancer in the tropical zodiac.
Sirius is a star of ambition, fame, and the sacred fire — the drive to rise above the ordinary and burn brightly. Its nature is Jupiter-Mars: expansive, ardent, blazing. Conjunctions to natal points kindle that point with a hunger for greatness and the heat to pursue it: honor, wealth, renown, devotion to a cause larger than the self.
The classical caution lives in its name. The star that scorches can over-reach: pride, burnout, or a fame that consumes. Sirius asks you to carry great fire without being destroyed by it — to keep the sacred flame, not start a wildfire.
Manifests as: outstanding ambition and success, distinction in one's field, guardianship and loyalty (the faithful dog), spiritual aspiration — with the shadow of pride and over-extension.
Keywords: ambition, brilliance, the sacred fire, fame, loyalty, the heat that can scorch.
