The Left Foot of Orion — a blazing blue-white supergiant, the brightest star in the constellation of the Hunter and one of the most luminous in the sky. Rigel is the firm foot on which the great figure stands. It sits in mid-Gemini in the tropical zodiac.

Rigel is a star of ambition realized through skill, teaching, and invention. Its nature is Jupiter-Saturn (some add Mars): capable, far-reaching, well-grounded. Conjunctions to natal points give that point steady, ascending success — fame and honor built on competence, often in technical, scientific, or instructional fields. It is a star of the maker and the teacher.

The traditional reading is unusually favorable: Rigel brings benevolence, honor, riches, and lasting renown, with less of the knife-edge warning that attends many bright stars. Its only caution is the weight of responsibility that comes with high position — the foot must bear the whole figure.

Manifests as: durable success and honor, technical or educational distinction, inventiveness, the rise of the skilled and steady, leadership earned through competence.

Keywords: skill, invention, teaching, steady ascent, durable honor, the firm foundation.
