The North Star — the still point around which the entire northern sky appears to turn, the brightest star in Ursa Minor, the Little Bear. For navigators and travelers, Polaris is true north, the one fixed light. It sits in late Gemini in the tropical zodiac.
Polaris is a star of guidance, steadfastness, and spiritual direction. Its nature is Saturn-Venus: constant, orienting, enduring. Conjunctions to natal points give that point a quality of fixed purpose — the ability to hold a true course, to become a point of orientation for oneself and others, and to inherit or carry forward a clear direction.
The traditional reading is mixed: Polaris brings guidance, inheritance, and spiritual purpose, but the older texts also note "much sickness, trouble, and loss" — the steadiness it confers is often won through hardship. Its gift is the still point earned by passing through difficulty: direction that is hard-won and therefore reliable.
