What the Part of Eros is
The Part of Eros is one of the seven Hermetic lots, built from Venus and the Part of Spirit. It describes desire in its deepest sense — not only romantic love but the longing of the soul, what a person yearns for and is magnetically drawn toward. It is the lot of what we want.
Because it derives from the Part of Spirit, Eros links desire to conscious purpose: what the will loves and pursues.
How it is calculated
By day the Part of Eros is Ascendant + Venus − Part of Spirit; by night the formula reverses to Ascendant + Part of Spirit − Venus. It therefore requires the Part of Spirit to be calculated first.
The Part of Eros in the chart
The sign and house of the Part of Eros show the arena and quality of a person’s deepest desire and capacity for love. Astrologers read it especially in questions of romance, attraction and what stirs longing — often alongside Venus and the fifth and seventh houses.
